Writing and reading can make the world a better place, and us better people. They help us understand others’ experiences and organize for change. TrooRa reflects this by highlighting overlooked social issues and the changemakers tackling them. As feminism, anti-racism, and LGBTQ+ rights face backlash, this matters more than ever. My favourite TrooRa piece was about the sandals the Maasai of East Africa make from used motorcycle tyres. If I could change one thing, it would be to teach better empathy to anyone who hasn’t faced oppression, so they could truly understand it. My favourite drink is sour beer — fruity and face-scrunching! My favourite emoji is the heart-eyes face, because there’s so much to love in the world.
